Two Out Of Six
Divorced – Executed – Died – Divorced – Executed – Lived. You probably recognize this as the final state of the six wives of Henry VIII. King’s College Chapel has the initials of two of those wives, added when they were alive. The H and A carved into the screen and choir stalls are for Henry and Ann Boleyn.
She was wife number two, so she was executed.
In one of the stained glass windows there’s an HR and a KH.
The HR is for Henry Rex and the KH is for Ann Boleyn’s first cousin, Kathryn Howard. She was wife number five, so she was executed, too.
We discovered the water pump on our boat was leaking into the bilges today, when the water that was filling up the boat shorted out the shower pump. Ah, the joy of boating. We spent a lot of time trying to bail out the bilges with a sponge, then Paula managed to buy a pump. Tomorrow we set to work with a pump to try to empty the bilges properly. So, I’m too tired to entertain you with brilliant commentary on Tudor politics or the dangers of waterfowl. Instead may I present a sign saying bikes left here will be removed…

As external examiner for the Classical Tripos Part II, I feel obligated to point out that perimo is not deponent and that the letter U is Roman. Short of corrective vandalism, the only decent option is to cover this public display of philological inadequacy discreetly up by locking your bicycle over it.
NJL-I just snorted when I read that—nearly having a fizzy water nose through.
